Mark Seven
Originally from the UK, Mark Seven now bases himself out of Stockholm where he runs the labels Parkway and Parkwest and the online record store Juswax. He travels regularly collecting vinyl and bringing his music to the world’s most discerning dancefloors. Widely considered as one of the finest practitioners of playing records out there, Mark quietly going about his business charting musical territory that may otherwise have been forgotten. There aren’t many out there whose fire burns this bright after 30 years in the game, even fewer who have put the music before themselves throughout as Mark Seven has. Every time he gets behind the decks, it’s something genuinely special.

For the last decade, John Gómez and Nick The Record’s freewheeling Tangent parties have been a vital part of London’s nightlife scene, offering dancers the chance to move to a wide selection of superb (and insanely rare) records. Friends for close to 20 years, music lovers, record obsessives, and internationally renowned DJs in their own right, John and Nick have two lifetimes’ worth of musical knowledge to draw from. John is a long-standing NTS Radio resident and compiler for Music From Memory, while Nick is one of the UK’s go-to record dealers and has been a key figure in the underground music scene for the past 25 years. The pair’s first Tangent compilation, released via Mr Bongo in 2024, perfectly reflects their spontaneous approach and exploration of global sounds.

Kelvin Andrews and Balearic Mike are two seasoned selectors known for their eclectic, sun-soaked sets under the Down to the Sea and Back project. Kelvin began his career in 1982, holding residencies at iconic clubs like Golden and The Bomb in Nottingham, while releasing music as Candy Flip, Sure Is Pure, and Soul Mekanik, as well as producing and writing songs for Robbie Williams. Balearic Mike, a true crate digger and one of the unsung heroes of the global DJ scene, is renowned for his passion for discovering lost treasures and his keen ear for new music. His eclectic style has taken him to some of the world’s best clubs and festivals, including Electric Chair, Horse Meat Disco, Festival Number 6, Ministry of Sound, and Electric Elephant in Croatia. The third Down to the Sea and Back compilation is out now.

Richard Moonboots and Jason Boardman have been captains of Manchester’s legendary Aficionado for over 25 years, curating a space where musical boundaries are left behind. Their Balearic Sunday sessions, which began as an “anything goes” experiment, have since become a cornerstone of Manchester’s nightlife. United by a shared vision to break free from mainstream club culture, Moon and Jason created Aficionado as a sanctuary for open-minded music lovers. With no regard for trends or fashion, their aim has always been simple: to play great records, one after the other. To celebrate this enduring Balearic bromance, 25 Years of Aficionado was released in 2024 — a lovingly crafted collection of 16 contemplative tracks that hold deep meaning for both the duo and the dedicated attendees of their now-legendary parties.

The latest darling of the Manchester scene, DJ and producer Joey T is a versatile selector with enthusiasm and energy by the bucketload. It’s been a busy couple of years for Joey, who has locked in regular appearances for Luke Una’s É Soul Culture, including a debut set at Pikes, Ibiza, and is also a resident for the long-standing Staffordshire-based party Wonk. A house head at heart, Joey’s selections also venture into spacious dub, heads-down disco, and beyond, with his sincerity and charm winning fans and turning heads around the world.

Pezz was a founding member of the 90s rave crew DiY Sound System, a Nottingham collective with a legendary history. In 1992, DiY’s five-day rave at Castlemorton was attended by 30,000 revellers. This illegal party led to the introduction of the Government’s Criminal Justice Bill. Fast forward to 2024, and Pezz isn’t just a Glastonbury resident DJ — he’s also a Rotation favourite, having blown minds with two blistering sets in 2022 and 2024 — dropping an eclectic mix of funk, boogie, electro-pop, 80s classics, disco edits, bootlegs, deep house, Balearic beats, curveballs, and straight-up groovy shit.

Since making his debut three years ago with the sun-soaked album Warm Nights, Reuben Vaun Smith has significantly grown and evolved as an artist. His aims, objectives, and musical output have also transformed, a shift clearly evident from the opening bars of his third full-length album, Da Cuckoo Ya Ya. This album marks his debut on the renowned Californian institution Ubiquity Records. Hailing from Yorkshire, Reuben infuses his music with a world-influenced boogie that reflects his diverse inspirations. He possesses a remarkable ability to navigate the ever-changing landscape of music, breaking boundaries and blending sounds to create something truly unique and special.

Andy Meecham and Dean Meredith (Chicken Lips) have a long history having recorded together as a pair for several decades. Chicken Lips’ original approach to production led to remix work for the likes of Underworld, Playgroup, Maurice Fulton, and Justin Robertson to name but a few. Their debut album Echoman was in many ways ahead of its time, drawing on eighties NYC influences, it sounds as current now (if not more so) than it did back in 1999.

Only arriving on the scene a few years ago, Alice skirts through laid back Balearic, chuggy nu-disco and spacey dance music. She’s equally happy playing a dreamy poolside set at Pikes as she is playing punchy electronica with dirty bass-lines in a sweaty club in the early hours. Alice is a regular contributor on Brighton-based radio station 1btn.fm.

Stu Robinson, Rob J and Rich Hall are three friends – collectors and diggers – based somewhere around Birmingham with a mutual appreciation for mushroom fuelled romps. As long-standing Rotation residents, the trio arrived on the scene in 2022 with the in-demand EP ‘Playing With Fire’. Wrekin Havoc also host their own parties ‘One of Us’, at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath, Birmingham.

Andy Taylor is resident and promoter at We Are The Sunset, London’s long running Balearic gathering. Andy’s musical style blends a mix of Balearic beat, afro, cosmic and oddball disco, and he can be found spinning regularly at clubs and parties around London, and the south coast. Away from clubs and parties, Andy has hosted radio shows on NTS and Soho Radio, presenting the We Are The Sunset sound to a worldwide audience.
